The importance of education can’t be overstated. Look at South Korea, for instance. In the 1950s, after the Korean War, their infrastructure was destroyed, and illiteracy rates soared above 70%. So, they made a bold decision: prioritized education. Within a generation, their literacy rate plummeted, and they transformed from a war-torn nation into a global leader in technology and innovation. An educated workforce immensely contributed to their economic growth and propelled them onto the world stage.
Vietnam faced a similar challenge. Their education system was ravaged by war; This left them with a destroyed education system and infrastructure and neglected teacher training. However, instead of accepting defeat, their government embarked on a reform journey. With international support focused on school improvements – upgraded facilities, essential materials, and revitalized teacher training – Vietnam achieved incredible results. Their literacy rate increased to over 95%, which fueled their economic growth, as they are also well known for their thriving export sector. Furthermore, this educational transformation opened doors for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, granting them access to higher education and better job opportunities.
