We arrived at Guardian Angels Motherless Babies Home at exactly 11:15 a.m., but the day had already begun earlier with a Mass at St. Dominic Parish, Nwanne Di Mba, Emene Road. The air was filled with the spirit of worship and unity. The Holy Communion was received reverently at 11:16 a.m., marking the beginning of a truly spiritual and memorable day for the children.
Monsignor Obiora Ike, a man of warmth and compassion, took a moment to connect deeply with the children. He spoke gently about the sacredness of Holy Communion and invited those who hadn’t yet received theirs to join catechism classes. These classes, scheduled for Sundays at 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., followed by the Holy Rosary and evening Mass, are not just teachings but rather they are opportunities for belonging and spiritual growth.

Laughter rang out as Monsignor Obiora handed colorful balloons to the children while a DJ played cheerful nursery rhymes in the background. A simple gesture, yet it meant the world to these little ones. Every face glowed not with material wealth but with the radiant light of being seen, known, and loved.

The Mass ended at 12:00 p.m., and the festivities continued with a quiz competition led by Rev. Sisters, drawing joyful cheers and giggles. The children, eager and intelligent, impressed everyone, especially during a lively debate on the roles of fathers and mothers in the family.

At 1:30 p.m., Fr. Rahim, CEO of Araceli Aid Foundation, arrived. He thanked the priests, the children, and all supporters for creating such a joyous event. With humility, he shared the meaning behind “Araceli” meaning “an altar in heaven” and explained our foundation’s mission: everyone can fulfill their purpose most especially children. He also encouraged the children to enjoy their youth because it will be something they will always reflect on when they grow older.

The day unfolded like a beautiful symphony. Cultural dances painted vibrant pictures of Nigeria’s rich heritage. Mime dramas and fashion parades, led by children from various centers like Our Lady Queen of Peace, Little Friends of Christ, and Our Lady Help of Christians, left the audience in awe. From laughter to tears of joy, each performance told a story of resilience, love, and the purest kind of beauty, the kind that exists in the hearts of children.

The Araceli Aid Foundation sponsored food, drinks, and thoughtful gifts to ensure no child left without something to hold and remember.

As we departed at 3:30 p.m. and returned to our office by 3:45 p.m., we carried with us more than just memories, we carried hope.
