Araceli Aid Foundation’s groundbreaking boarding school in Obeagu, Enugu State, is a beacon of hope for underprivileged children. The recent grand opening of the Araceli Aid Foundation Academy was a momentous occasion, graced by esteemed dignitaries like Peter Obi, the Catholic Bishop of Katsina-Ala Diocese, Most Rev. Isaac Bundepuun DUGU, accompanied by the FJDP Coordinator, Rev. Fr Gabriel TORTIV, the Education Director, Rev. Fr Peter ABIEM, and numerous other dignitaries.

The academy, a testament to the power of private investment in education, offers a comprehensive curriculum that equips students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. Founded by Anne Rossmeier, a visionary philanthropist, the academy is a dream come true for countless children who would otherwise have limited educational opportunities.

The grand opening was a two-day event filled with celebration and inspiration. On the first day, a thanksgiving Mass was held in honor of Miss Anne Rossmeier’s 80th birthday. The following day, the official dedication and foundation laying ceremony for the Nursery and Primary School, as well as the Technical College, took place on their respective lands.

In a speech given by Peter Obi, He said that the official opening of Araceli Aid Foundation Academy Enugu marked a significant milestone in the pursuit of access to quality education for underprivileged children. He emphasized that this institution was not just another school but a symbol of hope and opportunity for those who needed it the most. The speaker added that the academy, born out of the Araceli Aid Foundation, stood as a testament to the impact of private investment in education, particularly for the benefit of the underprivileged.

Peter Obi continued by saying that he was glad to honor the invitation to attend the opening ceremony, following his firm belief that quality education is not only the right of every child but also their currency for future opportunities. He was even more pleased to see such private individuals making visible investments in education for the progress of society.

Peter Obi promised to partner with the organization on this noble mission by helping to sponsor some indigent students in the school. He congratulated the efforts of Anne Rossmeier and the Team behind Araceli Aid Foundation for her great contribution to society. He also learned that about 50% of the children in the school enjoyed full and partial scholarships, which he commended as a commendable step in the struggle to give children across the nation access to a better life through education.

After the Mass, and the speech by Peter Obi, the students entertained the guests and their parents with some beautiful presentation that displayed the richness and diversity of the Values and culture of Enugu State, Eastern Nigeria.

Araceli Aid Foundation Academy, the first fruit of Araceli Aid Foundation, is more than just a school; it’s a community dedicated to nurturing young minds and empowering them to reach their full potential.
