WHAT HAPPENED

Monsignor Prof. Obiora Ike, one of Nigeria’s most respected authorities in education, human development, and advocacy, visited the Araceli Aid Foundation (AAF). His visit went beyond formality, it was a strong affirmation of what can be achieved when empathy, clear vision, and decisive action come together.

The day began at the AAF Office, where Monsignor Ike was warmly received. From the very first moment, it was clear that this was not just an official visit it was a spiritual encounter, a merging of shared purpose and divine assignment.

Soon after, Monsignor conducted a visit to the Araceli Aid Foundation Academy (AAFA), he was warmly welcomed by the students.

After Mass, Monsignor visited the Primary School and returned again to the main school campus for a series of vibrant and meaningful activities. The National Anthem and Diocesan Anthem were sung with reverence. He proceeded to bringing love, dignity, and hope to life. His words were not merely preached, they were lived, embodied in every story he shared and every blessing he gave.

During a special interactive session, students had the chance to ask Monsignor questions, and he responded with wisdom that reflected years of service, learning, and leadership. One moving moment came when he noticed the absence of more boys in the choir and choreography, expressing his hope to see them participate more actively especially in areas like sports and faith life.

Monsignor Ike’s words struck a chord. He spoke of the 800 scholarships that would cost over ₦30 million, with Araceli Aid Foundation already contributing 30 scholarships. He highlighted the incredible work of CIDJAP, which has awarded over 42,000 scholarships in the past few years.

With clarity and conviction, he lamented the education gap in Nigeria where 80% of children in the North and 20–35% in the South are still not in school. He called attention to the reality that 90% of scholarship funding in Nigeria comes from foreign donors, while many wealthy Nigerians only train their own children. “We must do better,” he urged. “We must become givers, not just receivers.”

He went on to describe the work CIDJAP has done quietly building schools, training over 1,000 young boys in vocational centers over the last 15 years, introducing schools in prisons, and now building a hospital in Ngenevu, where over 200,000 people live without access to healthcare. His vision is not merely a dream it’s built on over 1,700 successfully completed projects.

Perhaps the most touching part of his visit was when Monsignor Obiora Ike publicly accepted to be an Ambassador of the Araceli Aid Foundation. With a warm smile and gentle authority, he declared his support for our mission offering not just his name, but his heart.

He also spoke of the Catholic Microfinance Bank, with ₦6 billion in assets, offering that the school could borrow funds if needed. It was a moment of real possibility when access to resources aligned with a call to make impact.

After the address, Father Cornelius and Father Christian expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the school and foundation, while “Small Prof” led a heartfelt prayer of thanksgiving. Monsignor Ike, whom students fondly called “Big Prof,” then raised his hand and blessed the entire community leaving behind not just words, but a spiritual imprint.
